Hope everyone is having a great week. The weather was fantastic Tuesday here in South Carolina with temps near 80. Rain tomorrow but rest of week and weekend looking good. Definitely going to get some gardening done Saturday and Sunday. A co-worker gave me a bunch of scrap wood a couple years ago and planning to make some raised beds out of it.

I’ve seen some excellent deals going around on the S&W M&P Sheild in 45ACP including a rebate. Would love to pick one up but not in the budget right now. Palmetto State Armory has them with a final price of $274.99 after rebate.

Yesterday there was some discussion regarding EMP. I have a document that I will make available that is excellent and heavily researched. I requested approval to pass it on to all of you from one of those involved in its development. The website/project where it was originally sold is no longer around, unfortunately.

Had some email service problems with FreePrepperEbooks.com. Should be all good now.

I had no idea there is actually a movement with a huge following of people that believe the earth is actually……flat. Yes – do a few internet searches.
Wow.
There are many reasons why so many love their Kindle and Amazon Fire tablets. One huge advantage is you could literally go years without every buying a book to read as there are tons of free eBooks available. Don’t have a Kindle or Fire? No problem. There are apps that can be installed on most any cell phone or computer for free. No excuses!
Today’s Freebies
Small Gardens and How To Make The Most Of Them
NOTE: If you see a free preparedness eBook that you’re interested in get it now. Prices change often and there is no way to tell how long the book will remain free. Before purchasing a free Kindle book on Amazon make certain the book is still free by making sure the price is $0.00. If it lists a price or says “read for free” or has a price for prime members the book is not free anymore.
Looking to move to Greenville, Pickens, Oconee, Laurens counties area next year. Have to leave Marx-achusetts (Masschusetts). Lookin’ for land of the free and brave. Was stationed in SC in late 60’s. Love the people and politics.
Firehawk, welcome. I live in Pickens County. I moved here from the Midlands of SC in 1990. I’ve traveled all over this country during my career as a construction manager. My wife and I agreed that if we ever found anywhere we liked better, we’d move. Never happened. We live near Clemson, SC about 5 miles out. I can be on Lake Keowee within 15 minutes. There are trout streams all up in the mountains, although some are harder to get to than others. Super hiking trails if you are into that. I used to be. We do not subscribe to the Marxism of Massadamnitchusetts. Yes, I spent 18 months working on a small pharma plant not far from Boston a few years ago. Did not like the state. You’ll find a much more relaxed life style here. But I will caution you of this. Leave the opinions and lifestyle in MA. Never ever insert into a conversation “…but we didn’t do it like that in Massachusetts.” That’s a sure invitation to have people turn their back on you. First thing to do when you get here is kick off the shoes, get some coveralls and just relax. You’ll enjoy it.
I have no problem NOT saying anything about how we did it in MA. Although 70 I have the wish to learn new things that can only be found there. I still do know how to act based on over 3 years I was stationed there. I do want to be in a rural area, not center of town. I grew up country here. Who knows, maybe we will make your aquaintence.
Oren/Firehawk – Pickens area is a mecca for preppers. If you make your way down Firehawk I’ll meet both you and Oren for lunch.
I am originally from Massachusets and also lived in New Hampshire from age 20-26. Moved back South at 26 and would never go back.
Oren – Have you tried out “roller coaster road” in Clemson?
Cool. Thanks for the e-book. Downloaded it right away :o)
274.99..! That is a good deal, (after rebate). Can I get a link from you JR or is it as simple as an internet search?
Firehawk, that would be great place to go IMO. Or of course the Republic of Texas.
<—Ditto. I've been a good egg. Tearing through all my pre-staging prep wood, technology, etc and either using it or tossing it. Trying to get it down to the bare essentials with out leaving me without what I need. I'm reboxing, re-inventory, and pretty much getting everything steam lined mobilize ready again. I want to be able to go to one or two spots in the house. In a bug out situation I need to grab what I need quickly, load it, and get out.

Capt. Michaels,
M&P .45 ACP is out of stock currently at http://www.palmettostatearmory.com . I have been doing the same thing with regard to reducing, and repacking my ‘Kit’. It is funny how we look at something and ask “Do I really need that extra Magazine…”
Thanks Rourke and Brad M.
good weather here finally .. got garden going and hope to finish it over the next couple weeks, bees buzzing, chicks hatching .. busy busy
I did some more EMP reading as well … I’ve been disappointed in the disparity of conclusions based on empirical data… same data wildly different speculation.
A good starting point is for some of the tests performed in 1962.. Operation Fishbowl was a set of actual tests performing EMP to see results.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Fishbowl
The challenge there is that most electronics were not microelectronics ,,. no chips invented then yet. Hence the speculation about what it would or would not do, and what will or will not work. It doesn’t seem we have the will to experiment objectively anymore.
It isn’t the first time I’ve made my way through this material.. and it always succeeds in making me very anxious. We COULD harden our infrastructure, but we don’t .. WHY is that .. It’s no doubt that 3 High Altitude detonations,of multi-megaton if not just the several hundred kiloton ranges, spread equally over the US in the multiple Megaton rage would drive the western hemisphere back into the 1800’s almost immediately. So why ignore it. ? Cost is one reasoning factor .. Yes it would cost a lot.. But what is the cost of failing to harden it.. much greater. You woudl lose 80% or more of the western population within a year. It’s either sinister in reasoning or head in the sand and I am not sure which … could be some of both I suppose…
If I go all tin foil hat .. on the topic it is much more sinister and much worse…
neither extreme is probably correct..
We do live in interesting times..
