Short video showing a few visitors on the homestead after a recent snowstorm….

We see deer on a regular basis as well as quite a few turkeys. I’ve been told that a few decades ago there were no turkeys in Maine. Now? They are everywhere!

Have a good week everyone!

Our daughter has a homestead, with a residential deer family, and turkeys. Also bobcats and mountain lions. Interestingly, it’s not too far from silicon valley- (where I live) -less than an hour by car. I am pretty well-equipped, but it would take a lot of trips to get everything over to her place. My choice would be to bug-in first, but if it starts to get weird here in the city, I’d consider moving. But more to the point, it’s nice to look out of the window at her place, and see a small herd of deer grazing.

Yup, it’s nice to see wildlife in your yard. A few years ago the Forestry did a 200 foot brush grinding to protect our homes in cause of a forest fire only one way in or out, it took quite a while before the deer returned. Plenty of turkeys in the area but only once in 17 years in front of the house.
