Batteries, Batteries……and More Batteries

Stocking up on batteries is an essential and common sense step towards preparedness. Home Depot has a great deal on these 30 alkaline batteries for only $14.97. With an assortment of the most common battery sizes, it’s a great way to stock up. 

I’ve picked up three of these and added them to my battery savers. Good to know they have been put back and ready when needed. 

If there isn’t a Home Depot near you or you prefer online – Amazon has some good deals as well. I’ve started picking up rechargeable AA and 18650 batteries. For an extended situation without power, rechargeable batteries will be extremely useful.

    I agree with JR,
    One should look at the option of stockpiling rechargeable batteries, add a small solar charging system as backup and a decent charger that efficiently maintains their energy potential. I could envisage a service of selling said batteries and also charging some fee for charging again, a modest revenue generator. The system could also easily recharge all necessary electronics that everyone is encumbered with. Most of my battery purchases are the disk type of battery so I just keep extra handy. The rechargeable batteries seem to work just fine with everything, seem to last a well as the non-rechargeble.

    I don’t think most alkaline batteries last nearly the 10-yrs they advertise (Duracell). And for some reason AAAs tend to ruin headlamps.

    I think the rechargeable batteries are the way to go.

    i have been using and stocking the eneloop batteries for 15 yrs now and i highly recommend them. i have been using them in motion sensor lights and trail cameras and have never had a leakage or failure.
    they ain’t cheap to buy, but in the long run they have probably saved me hundreds of dollars over the years. if a person has a solar set up to recharge them you may not ever run out.
    batteries, lights and solar power may come in handy this next year—lets hope not but who knows. this next year ain’t looking good to me.
