Expired Campbell’s Soup: The Results Are In!!!

Well, I finally opened the expired can of Campbell’s Soup that was only 13 years past the date stamped on the can. I’m still here. I’ve been a massive advocate for canned goods being a major part of any food storage program for years. The results of this test further confirmed my stance.

The following video shows the opening of the can…..

With all the supply chain issues, fertilizer shortages, weather events, inflation, financial market instability, etc a robust food storage program simply makes sense.

Take care all –

The dating on food, didn’t even start until the late 70’s. It is not even required by the FDA, except on Baby Formula. I don’t even look at dates and have eaten products 10-15 years after purchase.

We have eaten store bought and home canned goods many years later also ! Just be sure the can is not rusted or dented and that the product smells
and looks ok when you open it.
For all our preppers in Florida – and Georgia please stay safe. Our prayers are with you through Hurricane Ian.

In the late 1890s a barge sank on the Missouri River while taking supplies
to Fort Benton Montana.Sometime around 2008 the barge was located and
divers salvaged what they could. Some of the canned food was sent to
several laboratories. The contents looked awful but there was no microbial or bacterial activity.

Every time there is a case lot sale we buy a case for ourselves a case for the
Veterans Food Bank and a case for barter of each vegetable and fruit
    variety

I recently opened a home canned jar of BBQ pulled pork from 2015 and it
was fine. The texture and flavor were good and we added a little extra sauce.

The only bad experience with canned food was 34 cans of Spam which were
four years past the use by date. The cans had all bulged and had been stored
    properly.
