Civil War 2.0: Uncommon Preparations to Consider

Civil War 2.0 has started. History will show we are within the early stages of what is being called a low-intensity domestic conflict. This current conflict and what is to come is quite unlike what most of us for the past two decades have considered when it comes to preparedness. Time’s change and so we must also.

Information is becoming more weaponized with each passing moment. The media is as corrupt as most of the politicians and participation in the political system is largely an effort in futility. Regardless of the outcome of the upcoming elections in 2020 things will continue to get worse.

Typically people look at “preps” and their focus is to glamorize about guns, ammunition – sometimes even bugout vehicles and communications. Preparedness should be focussed on true needs and preparation for as many possible scenarios. These scenarios should be based on data, research, and common sense outcomes from probable events. Predicting the future is impossible, however, predicting possible scenarios is well within the boundaries of those willing to dedicate the time to perform the necessary research.

I digress.

For those who believe Civil War 2.0 is upon us there are numerous preparations that should be checked off a “To Do” list. Here are a few:

Civil War 2.0 Preps to Consider:

Intelligence – Information that can be gathered prior to the time when needed is an essential preparation. Examples of intelligence would include areas of your city, town, or region that have the highest incidences of crime.

Other types of intelligence:

    • Locations and origins of gang activity
    • Number of law enforcement(city/county/state police, FBI,etc)  in all surrounding areas
    • Antifa organization levels and activity
    • White supremacy organizations and activity
    • Locations and hours of all medical facilities(this includes EMS/ambulance dispatch centers)
    • Frequencies used by police, utilities, and other city/county workers

Unconventional Communicationmesh network devices staged throughout an area will provide reliable, encrypted communication within that specific area

Planning – A huge topic that will only be touched on here. Instructions, checklists, and procedures on paper are for remembering. Your brain is for thinking. The best time to plan on what to do in events that would at least be called stressful is now. Having a plan to reference allows one to use their brain to think, consider, contemplate – and act.

Examples of plans could include relocation, communicating with friends, family, and group members, and housing if relocated.

Remote Suppliescaches of supplies including clothes, food, firearms, communication gear, and money.

Maps/Alternate Routes – Mapquest is an excellent tool for specifying routes to and from multiple locations. GPS software on cellphones typically provides the fastest or shortest routes. In any kind of regional conflict, these routes may not be the best. Mapquest allows routes to be planned in a very customized way.

Maps of all states and areas that could possibly be accessed should be maintained. Routes can be pre-planned and highlighted with a yellow highlighter.

“Clean” Computer/Tablet – For those who are concerned with being traced via online activity a “clean” laptop or tablet would be in order. By clean I am meaning it has been purchased with absolutely no connection to any part of the owner’s life. This means paying cash, and NEVER connecting to the Internet via ANY wi-fi/Internet connection that any other owned device has connected. Additionally, the user should never access or sign in to any account that could be traced back to the user.

Libraries, restaurants, and other businesses that offer free wi-fi should be used.

USB Flash DrivesUSB flash drives allow a huge array of information to be transferred from one person to another avoiding traceable email and other similar communication.

Encrypted Email – The entire point of encrypted email is to be able to send messages so that the content(text, pictures, video, audio) cannot be seen except by the user. ‘Nuff said.

Prepaid Burner Cell Phones – Just as above more secure communications could be very advantageous.  Burner phones that have no ties to the user are much more secure than a contract-based phone.

Cash – Cash is king especially in a grid-down situation. Cash is also untraceable.

Press Passes – Obtaining a Press Pass may assist in moving through or into certain areas that regular “civilians” are being prevented. Templates are available on the internet and at a future date will offer free downloadable templates here.

The future is all but certain. What’s absolute is with every passing day division in government and the populace continues to grow. The Federal Debt continuous to build to staggering unprecedented amounts. The US Dollar continues to lose value. The Left continues to propose big government programs and plans to take away our God-given rights.

We are at war, albeit a soft one. That will not last forever and whether we are months or years away from a true, high-intensity regional conflict the time to prepare is now.

John, this only confirms my feelings that no matter who wins in 2020 we will the American Revolution part 2.0, can we survive as a country to me is debateable. I pray I am wrong in my suspicions, but will continue to prepare.

    1. JR says:

Thanks for the comment John P. I do not believe we can survive as a country, however, the idea of what this country was founded can prevail. What exactly will transpire and what will the country or country’s look like at the end is debatable.

Speaking of the continuation of this collapse…

    My recommendation for BookOfTheDecade:

HARD FAVORED RAGE by Don Shift.

This is an excellent discussion of a post-apoc dystopia, civilization-wide collapse, and cobbling last-minute tribes in defensible hermitages.

HARD includes Law Enforcement Officials slavers conniving with Latin slavers, the die-off, the physical sicknesses from poor diet and bad water, and the desolation and depression knowing your every choice is wrong.
HARD describes the die-off as one way to ease the population-caused impact on resources such as water and natural spaces.
What happens after the refined petroleum runs out?
    HARD provides many vivid examples.

    The world-building is excellent.
    Character development is impeccable.
The arc is genuine and believable.
    Clean clear writing.

Highly-recommended as an instruction manual and for fun.
HARD is one of those stories I read awhile, then set down awhile to digest the implications, then pick up again because of its insights and predictions.
HARD concisely examines the Californians/liberals delusional dilemma of relying on TheGovernmentAgents for anything.

After I read the preview, I invested the princely sum of us$0.99, and it was worth every penny.

HARD was wrote by ‘a veteran sheriff deputy’, and has a visible bias toward self-reliance and self-security… partly because Law Enforcement Officials see their First Duty is to other Law Enforcement Officials, their Second Duty is to friends and family, and their Peripheral Duty is to anybody else.

Most clear thinking preppers don’t need a “post apoc ,dystopian” novel to know how bad it will be.
Get busy.Time is of the essence.Fantasy and day dreaming won’t getter done.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply!
I notice I can get caught-up in prepping for the continuation of this collapse based on my experience.
For this reason, I often look outside my experience for ideas I haven’t considered.
One example from HARD FAVORED RAGE is Law Enforcement Officials ‘requisitioning’ food and supplies from businesses while they are closed.
I did not realize TheGovernmentAgents have lists and plans to wait until business owners close for the day, then detain the owners on their way home… all while other TheGovernmentAgents clean-out everything from the business.
        This includes:
        Foods,
        Medical supplies,
        Hardware stores,
        Generators,
        Refined petroleum products,
        Firearms and firearm-related equipment,
        Bedding,
        and veterinary supplies.
In short, TheGovernmentAgents have procedures in-place to monopolize everything so they are the only supply source.
        Devious?
Nope, I think TheGovernmentAgents are realistic.
One aspect of Natural Law is grouping with similar-minded folks so the individual has a stronger chance of survival.
I do not fault TheGovernmentAgents for wanting to survive… at the expense of everybody else.
That would not be my choice, but I am not TheGovernmentAgents, so my decisions tend toward co-operative instead of competitive.
Our teaching farm near Eugene Oregon has no heavy equipment or massed supplies for TheGovernmentAgents to ‘requisition’ == as far as I know === but TheGovernmentAgents probably have plans for folks like us as well.
Again, thank you for your response!

Really you’re getting this creditable information from a fiction book? You need to learn the difference between reality and fiction!!! So, who are these so called “TheGovernmentAgents”? Is this the new term for the mystical “Black Booted Government Thugs” of the 80s and 90s? Pure fantasy!!!!

“I did not realize TheGovernmentAgents have lists and plans to wait until business owners close for the day, then detain the owners on their way home… all while other TheGovernmentAgents clean-out everything from the business.”

JR, true what this country will like after the elections is scary. If the sociaist/communist get in it will be beyond scary.

In a long term grid down situation we all know that whatever we have on that day is all we will have for a very long time.
Grid down means financial and economic collapse. In the early stages cash will work until the populace understands what has happened. No more than a week I think.
Our ability to barter will determine if we are going to survive. At some point no one
may want what you are offering.Unless?!?!.
Gold and silver are the only tangible assets to hold value and purchasing power for thousands of years. It will be no different when the world goes to hell.
Yes,I realize the expense invalved. One tenth ounce gold coins and one tenth silver coins are a good way to start.
What price do we put on our survival?.

Mention was made of templates being posted later, i.e., mention especially of press pass. True a press pass does allow the posessor access to events & places, it has been more difficult in the past 15 yrs or so. I’m retired from the press, and I concur that the #1 commandment of journalism is presenting both sides of an issue with objectivity, and this seems to no longer taught or practiced. The usuall method now is advance contact and often name of press person. Just having a placard in the window doesn’t mean much anymore, still one needs to show the company I.D. card. Times have changed, but a good idea; so good that it was used to gain access in the assassination attempt of Pres. Ronald Reagan.

  6. Brian of Nazareth says:

Ok, so what if the Antifa teams with the Right Wing organizations such as the Proud Boys? How do we deal with this? Should we just target the people with skin that kinda looks brown? Let’s face it, it’s better to shoot at niggers than white people. That’s just a given. But what if there’s coons with MAGA hats? Again, there’s nigs who are pro Trump. Ya just can’t go shooting them, because they serve a purpose to our President. This is a hard decision, but I say let ’em go.
