Night vision is one of those things that I know I need to invest money in. Problem is I don’t have $3,000 for a PVS-14 Gen 3. The advantage that night vision affords the user cannot be overstated.
Years ago when I was living in New Hampshire a former supervisor stopped by the plant. I worked night shift and he wanted to show off some toys from where he had been working. He had night vision goggles. These strapped to the head and were incredible. I walked out behind the plant with no light but from the stars and could easily navigate the woods. Simply awesome.
Considering threats after a collapse and their potential presence when the sun goes down night vision is a huge advantage. I came across the video below showing a possible budget-minded solution. Take a watch and let me know what you think.
I realize that the Bushnell Equinox Z Night Vision Monocular requires for the most part an IR illuminator which shines like a beacon to someone else who has night vision. It is better than not having any night vision at all.
Hmmmm…….something to consider.
