Everyone should their own survival strategy.
Mine is to assess, move toward gunfire, and engage as necessary. Like the good doctor says, most situations are over in moments. Hey diddle diddle, straight up the middle; this has stood the test of time for fighting men everywhere in fast moving situations whose dynamics aren’t conducive to a lot of prior planning. Keep in mind that my training, experience set, and everyday carry, is likely fairly unique which provides for uncommon confidence.
Having so said, the advice given by Dr. Alton is probably good for the huddled masses.
