2020: A Year Leading to Uncertainty

For the past few years, many have looked at 2020 as the pinnacle point in the near future. Why? I suspect it’s not due to it being a leap year.

Back in November of 2016 many on both sides of the political aisle looked at 2020 as a significant year. If Donald J. Trump turned out to horrible for the country we only needed to wait four years to vote him out. It’s obvious that for most of us who value the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the foundational values which this country was founded believe things have gone much better than expected. No – Trump is not a savior nor would anyone argue he is a good example of morality. The outcome of his first three years speaks for themselves.

For many preparedness-minded folks who were so focused and prepared with an unrelenting fervor due to the certainty that Killary would be victorious – the outcome of the election allowed a giant sigh of relief. I’ve been highly critical of those who allowed this breather to extend beyond 2017.

We approach 2020 and this country is relishing in low unemployment, growing wages, record-breaking markets, and what appears to be a growing sense of unity and patriotism within its populace. Depending on your source of news it can appear things just can’t get any better. Having this perspective would be a terrible mistake. While being positive and hopeful is admirable – being prudent and realistic pays dividends.

I remember reading the adage above in my teenage years and it stuck. While the focus of this narrative thus far encompasses politics and the intense disarray in this country, there are many more reasons to prepare than the threat of civil war.

Talking to others who are immensely concerned with the direction this country is heading has all of them focussed on November of 2020. While only a few have suggested that they expect some sense of unrest immediately following the election(regardless of the outcome) – all believe that civil unrest and regional domestic conflict is just a matter of time.

November of 2020. A Liberal Democrat Socialist wins. The country will head down one possible path.

November of 2020: Donald J. Trump wins. The country will head down another possible path.

Regardless of the outcome, the events to follow are as uncertain as who will win in 2024(if there’s an election).

    Prepare. Be deliberate.

I’ve been thinking of another AR project. Why not, right? The possibilities are truly endless with the AR platform and budget restraints d0 exist. I could build a 9mm carbine. That would be interesting though I have a Beretta CX4 Storm in 9mm that I am getting ready to start testing. How about building a lightweight AR? I like that idea. Just how light could I go for under $XXX? Hmmm…..I could do another AR-pistol with a “stabilizer” stock. Absolutely love my current one and it is my go to SHTF weapon. I always wanted to get a replica of a standard CAR-15. Maybe.

I would consider a .308 but just cannot afford that build right now.

    Any ideas?

The extent in which the CIA is reported to be able to spy on civilians is concerning. While protection against terrorism is important it would be curious to know the amount of money – and the quantity of rights violated – to stop how many terrorist plots? For those of us worried about an abusive, overbearing government this is not very encouraging. The fact that Alex Jones – 11 years ago – actually reported on one of the programs involved in this latest report and named it by name(Weeping Angel) has me wondering.

Added a social media icon bar on the right side of the website. This links to the site’s accounts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Google+. Still in the process of updating some of these. The plan is in a month or so to start posting videos again. Can’t stand watching myself on video but enjoyed the interaction when I did it years ago. A bit odd as some of the content on the social media accounts are related to my previous project.

Before purchasing a free Kindle book on Amazon make certain the book is still free by making sure the price is $0.00. If it lists a price or says “read for free” or has a price for prime members the book is not free anymore.
