Boots on the Ground: It’s Getting Real

David with his Youtube channel SouthernPrepper1 has a continuing series called “Boots on the Ground”. In this series, David passes on first-hand information that he receives from viewers regarding local economic conditions as well as other relevant tidbits dealing with this crisis we find ourselves in.

Here are the past several episodes…..

  • Roe Rage

    Roe Rage

Quick note: We are really in the response to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe vs. Wade. Tempers are flaring and the rhetoric of the Left is absolutely trending towards violence. Calls for radical measures against not just the Supreme Court – but against Constitutionalists and COnservatives is spreading across the country. Pro-Life Centers – many of which perform numerous women’s health services(often for free) are on high alert as threats of vandalism and violence rain down upon them from groups such as Jane’s Revenge.

Just one example of early violence included a group of abortion rights supporters banging against the Arizona Senate building entrance during a protest at the Arizona Capitol on Friday. They had to be dispersed by law enforcement with tear gas.

The United States many of us have grown to love and respect has been riddled with hypocrisy, corruption, and power-hungry bureaucrats purposefully destroying this once great nation. My position is this will continue and we will see more and more societal breakdowns and civil unrest over the next few years.

Focus on you and yours. Keep your head on a swivel and watch your six. You never know where or when – so be ready.

    Take care all.

  • Russia/Ukraine

    Russia/Ukraine

It’s appearing that the invasion of Ukraine by Russia is imminent. As of this writing, Russia has stationed well over 100,000 troops along the Ukrainian border and has also moved ships to the area. Russia has literally begun to encircle Ukraine with military activities north, east, and south.

What impact will an invasion have on us? Well, nothing good. Beyond that, we can make a few educated guesses:

A Russian invasion will cause a wave of instability to circle through global financial markets. Next up we will see a spike in an already inflated oil market and along with that more inflation due to higher transportation costs. Assuming the threat of massive sanctions against Russia is carried out – the threat of nation-sponsored cyberattacks here in the United States is almost a certainty. Lastly – the relationship between Russia and China will grow stronger.

The United States will NOT get in a direct conflict with Russia over Ukraine. There’s no indication of this nor is there any reason. I am most concerned about the potential effects of cyberattacks here in the states. Cyberattacks offer a certain level of denial. Putin can strike at the West – while denying any knowledge or involvement.

Raising fuel prices. Continued supply chain issues. More inflation. Cyberattacks.

    Prepare accordingly.

  • What the $#%& Is Going On?

What the $#%& Is Going On?

It’s so ridiculous it’s both sad and laughable. We are closing in on 150 days of the Biden Administration. Both their actions and their ability to portray themselves as a serious world leader is ridiculous.

The unfortunate truth is he – and his cronies and handlers – are in a position of power. What an embarrassment.

Cars as Weapons: I predict that cars will be used as weapons more and more into the future both here and abroad. Construction of new buildings will begin to have barriers as standard equipment to protect inhabitants. Malls, shopping centers, schools, and government buildings will start the installation of barriers as preventive measures against the growing trend.

More on Organizing & Communication: I had someone suggest creating a forum awhile back and charge a small monthly fee to join. The reason for the small fee it to keep the more serious folks in it and the “browsers” out. If they are not willing to pay $3.00 per month then they may not be too serious about it. I don’t know. It is not secure and there would need to be some way of vetting those coming in. This is a more public way of getting like-minded folks together.

Facebook Alternative: Capt Michaels sent me a link to “Gab“. Gab is a social media platform that was created due to the free speech bias on most social media platforms. I have set up an account but not looked around much yet.

  • Atlanta Hwy 85 Bridge Fire – What Prepper’s Need to Know

Atlanta Hwy 85 Bridge Fire – What Prepper’s Need to Know

This past Thursday a fire was purposely set under a bridge in Atlanta on Highway 85. The fire has destroyed the bridge and rendered it inoperable. For those of us that have traveled through this area know the tremendous disruption this has created. Over 250,000 people each and every day travel over that bridge – but now need to find another way.

Survival and preparedness websites for decades have talked about the possibility of supply chain interruptions and non-passable highways all caused for one reason or another. This event in itself certainly shows an existing vulnerability in our infrastructure that could be exploited. That exploitation – if widespread – could truly create a devasting economic event throughout the United States.

The Atlanta bridge fire is a reminder that we all spend a lot of time away from home and on the road. What if something occurs and we cannot travel our regular route? What if we have to walk? Are there “bad” sections to travel through? How much gas is in my vehicle at any given point? Is it enough?

    A lot of questions.

    5 Preparedness Recommendations When Traveling:

    1. Don’t let your gas tank drop below half full.
    2. Keep a supply of water such as a case of water bottles in the vehicles trunk or storage area.
    3. Have at a minimum a small food supply such as nutrition bars, MRE’s, crackers, etc.
    4. Toilet paper – a few rolls for when the “S” true hits the fan.
    5. Keep a couple of portable backup battery chargers to keep cell phones operating

A plastic tote or backpack holding the above supplies – plus more – is advisable. Although cell phones have GPS capability an assortment of maps is a good idea as well

Be careful out there and drive safely.

  • It’s illegal for conservatives to defend themselves: Why Michael Stickland is a political prisoner

It’s illegal for conservatives to defend themselves: Why Michael Stickland is a political prisoner

The following post was originally published over at 299Days.com.

    By Glen Tate

Michael Stickland is a conservative alternative journalist in Portland who covers Leftist protests on his channel called “Laughing at Liberals.” He goes to the protests and videos all the violence they commit. They hate him.

He was jumped a few months ago and severely beaten by an anti-Second Amendment activist. Here’s the video (that crunching sound at 0:04 is his shoulder being broken). He knew the identity of the attacker (the guy drove away and his license plate is clearly visible) but the police never got around to arresting him. His shoulder has never recovered from the beating he endured by the “peaceful protestor.”

Learning his lesson that you can’t defend yourself without a weapon, he obtained an Oregon concealed carry permit and took extensive training on the safe use of a defensive firearm. Everyone has a right to defend themselves. What could go wrong?

Last summer he was covering a Black Lives Matter protest and a crowd of thugs, who recognized him and shouted out his name, taunted him as he was trying to escape. Then they charged him. He drew his weapon but did not fire. Here is the video of what happened. Four police officers who saw the video said no crime was committed and Michael clearly acted in self-defense.

He is now facing decades in prison.

Why? Because Portland, Oregon, like many liberal-controlled cities, hates people like Michael Strickland. The trial was a total travesty with a “surprise” prosecution witness, who Michael’s attorneys were not allowed to talk to in advance, being allowed to suddenly testify after the prosecution rested its case. (I’m a lawyer and have never in my life heard of this in my entire life.)

In my opinion, the prosecutor in Portland wants to “make nice” with Black Lives Matter and offered up Michael as a sacrifice to curry political favor. This is why I think Michael Strickland is a political prisoner. His political beliefs meant that he was prosecuted when others are not, all for the political benefit of the government. That’s the classic definition of a political prisoner. That’s Michael Strickland.

Portland officials want to make it illegal for conservatives to defend themselves, and by throwing Michael Strickland in jail forever they have succeeded. Black Lives Matter can burn down entire sections of a city but you can’t defend yourself, and they like it that way.

Don’t let them get away with it. Donate to Michael’s legal defense fund here.

It’s disappointing to hear a segment of Trump supporters bail on him over one issue or even two as they disagree with Trump’s handling of certain issues. No one is perfect and there will be no President that does everything that everyone will agree with. Let’s have some perspective and realistic vision.

Cyberterrorism and hacking is a growing concern. Just this month hackers interrupted Washington, DC closed-circuit police camera systems.  Reports are common that banks, businesses, and people are getting hacked. Due to how frequent this occurs it fails to get the notoriety which they once received.

What will happen should a nuclear power station or major electrical power station get hacked?

My stippling work continues onto another PMAG. This time a much more aggressive and effective pattern. Sharing with a few group members impression was positive but felt it was too aggressive. I don’t think so at all. The difference grasping ability is significant and tearing a mag from a chest rig is much more positive. Imagine a hand covered in slimy blood – the stippling would make a huge difference. Skateboard tape would assist as well.

Watched Captain America: Civil War for the second time. Excellent movie and if you like action the entire Avengers/Captain America/Iron Man series is first rate. “Civil War” in particular is extremely relevant to current times. Why? The United Nations wish to have oversight and control over the Avengers due to their incredible power. See – it’s the same old “government always knows best”.

There is a split in the Avengers Team as to sign up or not. Conflict ensues – thus….Civil War.

    ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

I’ve started my stippling project. Read around on gun forums and people have a love-hate relationship with stippling. After handling a pistol with custom stippled grip the purpose is clear = superior control and retention. Starting with some PMAG’s while I learn.

Something for you…..Another example of why we need to put celebrities and their opinions in perspective. This guy  – although a great actor – does not live in the same world as the rest of us……

I am curious. If Hillary wins what will happen with ammunition, magazine, and gun purchases? Month after month sales records are broken. With that said I suspect that most shooters have bought 90% of what they want/need. Most preppers have already stocked up and spent a ton of money. On November 9th if America wakes up and “President Hillary Clinton” is the headline no doubt there will be some boost – but shortages? I doubt it.

I’ve done well putting back brass and lead as well as a few “boomsticks”. Depending on the results of the election I’ll likely be motivated to do a bit more.

Alot has been on my mind. I am feeling an overwhelming need to step up my preps as quickly as possible. Paranoia? I hope so. Who knows – maybe 10 years from now I’ll be playing with my grandkids and everything is just fine. Not taking any chances  -I suggest you don’t either.

Things progressing well with group preps and hitting new levels of readiness as well as new members. Timing couldn’t be better.  Retreat location is set. Supplies – such as food and fuel – are soon to be pre-staged for several members. Although things are going well multiple backup plans are a must.

Another area I frequent is in Georgia at my brothers place. This is certainly an alternate bug out location and supplies must be pre-staged there as well.
