This is the latest I’ve been able to determine. It’s not the easiest thing to decipher the vast amount of information in something like this Bill that is so huge.
Hello all! Figured it was time for a “From the Desk….” post and catch everyone up on some happenings and share a few thoughts on the world today.
First and foremost, we continue to prepare. Every day, the headlines across all news media seem more outrageous than those of the previous day. With limited funds and time we do the best we can. I check out Facebook Marketplace on the regular and have found some great deals on things we could use for the property. I’m not a huge Facebook fan, but I try to take advantage of FB Marketplace. Food has been the main emphasis.

We’ve been super busy on the property. We expanded our garden by approx 30%. So far, most everything is looking great. Strawberries are producing well, and the granddaughter devours them every time she comes over. A couple of new vegetables we are trying are spaghetti squash and a few variants of peppers. Canning some salsa is planned as well as some delicious spaghetti sauce.
The “Big, Beautiful Bill” got passed in Congress. I have extremely mixed thoughts on this. As far as I can tell. there are some excellent parts of the bill, and then a ton of bloated wasteful spending. This seems par for the course for government. I had hoped for something different. The anti-gun control measures that were originally included were removed. The RHINO’s in Congress continue to earn that nickname.

We bought a shed several months ago. One of the main reasons was to have a place to store more supplies as the main cabin here is just short on space. It has been great. One thing Kass “demanded” was to keep all her holiday decorations in there – Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It occupied a significant amount of space that could have been allocated to other essential supplies, such as food storage and daily or weekly necessities.
Well, I saw this giant tote at Home Depot that would be perfect to store a bunch of the holiday stuff, including our full-size Christmas tree. I bought the tote, and Kass packed it and away to the garage it went. With that free space opened in the shed I just put up some shelves and have begun to organize. With the uncertainty of the world today, I’m making a list of common daily/weekly items and making sure we have a year’s worth on hand. These shelves will be used for some of this.

Recently, I had a long-time follower make a comparison of this website to another media entity called “Survival Dispatch.” There is no comparison. Survival Dispatch is a big-time multi-media organization backed with tons of money, along with an entire team of people running the show.
We are a simple blog trying to reach like-minded folks expressing concern for what is happening now in the world as well as what the future holds.
Yup – we have limitations. We do not make content full-time, nor do we have thousands of dollars monthly for advertising, social media marketing, and to pay content creators. Back just before 2016 preparedness became a big business. Numerous websites were bought by large media conglomerates, and things changed a lot. I came very close to just shutting things down, but, I enjoy it. I really do. We are a tiny fish in a world filled by corporate sharks that really could care less about preparedness….and you. They are in it for the money. We make nothing here and do it for the same reason I started back on May 29th, 2010 – my mother’s birthday – to connect with like-minded folks.
The comparison was disappointing, to say the least.

Alright, let’s talk about Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old democratic socialist who just snagged the Democratic nomination for New York City mayor. For folks like us at 1776PatriotUSA.com, who care about the grit, freedom, and self-reliance the Founding Fathers built this country on, this is straight-up nuts. A guy who proudly calls himself a socialist, leans hard into radical policies, and stirs up identity politics as a Muslim candidate? It’s like New York City’s begging for trouble. But honestly, in these crazy times, it’s just another piece of the puzzle pointing to some kind of collapse or reset down the road.
Look, Mamdani’s ideas are a slap in the face to what made America great. Free buses, city-run grocery stores, universal childcare, rent freezes—all paid for by hammering the rich with taxes. Sounds nice until you remember every socialist experiment from the Soviet Union to Venezuela crashed and burned. New York’s got a $115 billion budget and a massive workforce. It needs a mayor who gets how money works, not someone chasing pipe dreams that’ll tank the economy. The Founding Fathers built this country on property rights and limited government—Zohran’s big-tax, big-spend plans are the opposite of that.
And then there’s his whole “billionaires shouldn’t exist” vibe, backed by folks like Bernie Sanders and AOC. Millionaires already foot 41% of the city’s income tax bill. If Mamdani’s policies scare them off, good luck keeping the lights on. The guy’s heart might be in the right place, but his head’s in the clouds, and that’s dangerous for a city like New York, the heart of American capitalism.
On top of that, his focus on his Muslim identity and support for stuff like the BDS movement has folks worried. He’s called Israel out for “genocide” and “apartheid,” which some say crosses into antisemitism, though he pushes back on that. Look, religious freedom is core to America, but Mamdani’s campaign plays up identity in a way that feels divisive. It’s less about uniting people and more about rallying certain groups, which isn’t what the founders had in mind when they dreamed of a nation built on shared values.
Now, let’s be real—some of the attacks on him are way out of line. The Islamophobic nonsense calling him a terrorist or tying him to 9/11 is garbage and doesn’t help the case. But you can’t ignore the chatter on X, where people are freaking out about a “Muslim communist” or defunding the police. Those are exaggerations, maybe, but they show how uneasy people are about where he’s taking the city.
Mamdani beating out Andrew Cuomo, a guy with baggage but serious experience, shows how fed up New Yorkers are. They’re struggling with high costs and feeling ignored, so they’re rolling the dice on a young, charismatic guy promising the moon. Problem is, his kind of radicalism fits right into the mess we’re seeing nationwide—ballooning debt, crumbling institutions, and a slow slide away from the self-reliance the founders championed. It’s another sign the system’s cracking.
For us at 1776PatriotUSA.com, who prep for economic fallout and hold tight to the vision of a free America, Mamdani’s rise is a gut check. His policies scream big government and dependency, the kind of stuff that could speed up the collapse we’re bracing for. Come November, with Mamdani up against Eric Adams or maybe even Cuomo again, New Yorkers have a choice: stick with what they know or bet on a radical experiment that could blow up in their faces.
The founders warned us about getting sucked into factions and mob rule. Mamdani’s win, powered by a loud group of young progressives, feels like a step toward that direction. As patriots, we’ve got to keep pushing for liberty, individual rights, and smaller government. The puzzle’s coming together, and it’s not looking good. New York’s next move could either steady the ship or send us closer to the edge.

Now that President Trump has ordered and the military has carried out strikes to dismantle the Iranian efforts to create a nuclear weapon the question of “What now?” must be asked. Below are a few scenarios and my thoughts on what might happen.
1. Escalation into Wider Regional Conflict
Ongoing retaliation: Iran may target U.S. forces in the Middle East—bases in Iraq, Syria, or maritime assets near the Gulf—with missiles, drones, or cyberattacks.Tehran might also target global oil shipments, pushing energy prices and inflation higher.
Proxy mobilization: Iran’s allied militias and the IRGC could attack U.S. embassies or personnel in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, and beyond. U.S. advisers and regional partners could be drawn into kinetic strikes.
Allied engagement: Israel continues active operations, and other Gulf states (like Saudi Arabia or the UAE) may be pressured to allow U.S. involvement or face Iranian blowback.
2. Limited Retaliation, Strategic Rethink
Measured response by Iran: Iran might strike select U.S. military or diplomatic sites rather than targeting civilians. They could leverage cyber aggression or disrupt shipping lanes without provoking full-scale war.
Diplomatic pressure builds: Europe—already pushing for zero enrichment via talks in Geneva—may broker ceasefires or a temporary freeze while reengaging in negotiations.

I grew up in the 1980s, a time when you didn’t have to look far to find pride in being an American. My dad was a huge Ronald Reagan fan—like many of that era, he believed deeply in the promise of America. I grew up under the shadow of the Stars and Stripes, believing with all my heart that the United States of America was the greatest idea ever put into action. And honestly, I still believe that.

Amid the chaos, a striking contradiction emerges: many protesters wave Mexican flags while aggressively opposing deportation from the United States. This raises a fundamental question: if the U.S. is deemed so unjust as to warrant such destructive acts, why resist returning to a nation they so prominently celebrate? Displaying foreign flags while demanding to remain in a country they disrupt through violence undermines the logic of their cause.
These protests, marked by property destruction and endangering lives, do not reflect a reasoned defense of principle but rather a rejection of lawful enforcement. [A Blast from the Past and slightly updated…..Here’s a rare post by The Maine Prepper Girl.] I consider myself a prepper in training. I can remember back in the early 2000’s wanting to be prepared for winter time in Northern Maine. The year after that my awareness for the need to be prepared for other situations grew. It was a sixth sense of sorts that is hard to explain. Wanting to keep my family safe, I thought about potential situations that I could face and need to be prepared for. Each fall time, without fail, I would feel the need to prepare for the winter ahead.
Planning for the winter ahead included, stocking up the extra freezer I had in the basement with half of a beef from the local butcher. Furnishing the basement with shelves to put extra canned goods to keep was another. I had a camp stove with some small cans of propane to prepare food. Having extra coolers to keep my food cold and safe outside in a snowbank was also an option for food storage if needed.
Knowing there was a big hole in my plans because I had no secondary source of heat I needed another plan. Without heat, I would have to go to relatives if that was needed. In retrospect, I would have put in a wood stove in the event of a power outage. I had plenty of wood on my 12 acres and would have kept seasoned wood in the basement for emergencies.
Many people in Maine put in secondary sources of heat in their homes but both relied on electricity which made no sense to me. Others had generators which was probably what I would have gone with if I had not sold and moved. I often saw generators used to keep the heat on if nothing else during a power outage in winter. My next home will have a wood stove for sure!
Anyway, back to the creamy chicken rice, my point is that being accurately prepared takes a lot more than just buying stuff. Figuring out what works for you in your environment while considering the needs of those around you and other possible needs BEFORE you need them is crucial. I thought Mr. Rourke was silly for wanting to try some of the freeze dried/dehydrated food. Why would we want to waste good food that can be stored long-term? Well, I am glad that in this instance he was correct. (Rourke: She has since learned I’m always right!)
I learned a few things that I will consider when buying more freeze-dried and dehydrated food.
The first thing I learned was how much water you need to make the meals that come in this kit. The creamy chicken flavored rice needed 5 cups of water and a couple of the other meals needed 8 cups and 10 cups.
Another thing I learned when making this side dish was that it could have easily been made into a main dish by adding a can of chicken and/or a can of veggies. The container says it is 8 servings so adding more would either feed more or let you have a bigger portion.
Also worth noting was that a little garlic salt really made a difference in the taste.
The last thing I learned was that although this kit was for 1 person for 72 hours, unless I planned on eating just chicken flavored rice all day, I would need a way of storing the prepared food. You could just make half, but you would still need a way of storing the packet of dried ingredients for another day. Containers and plastic storage bags would make things easier when trying to store the leftovers.
The Creamy Chicken Flavored Rice was very simple to make. I did have to stand there and stir quite often to prevent clumping but other than that you only need a few things. You will need a pot, a measuring cup, 5 cups of water, and a whisk.
Here is the container of food, how it looked when we opened it, and all the individual bags that come in it.
Here is the nutrition information of all the packages in the 72-hour food supply. We chose to have the Creamy Chicken Flavored Rice. It has 240 calories for 1/3 cup and says it is 8 servings.
The only thing we had to do was boil five cups of water and add the contents.
As stated previously, I had to tend to the dish by stirring occasionally to prevent any clumping.
The final product was very good alone, however, we did add some garlic salt and pepper for a little more flavor. The consistency was a little thicker than what you would expect from a rice dish, but again, very good.
Anyone have any experience with freeze dried or dehydrated food that you could share? I would love to hear about them!

When we talk about preparedness, most of the conversation centers around the physical. We build our food stores, stock up on medical supplies, gather tools, weapons, and ammunition. We make plans, train, and work hard to be ready for whatever crisis might come. And all of that is important—it’s smart, it’s responsible, and it gives us a fighting chance when things fall apart.
But there’s a piece that’s often left out of the conversation: spiritual preparedness.
In a world growing more unstable each day, we often forget that our souls need preparing, too. We might be ready to survive without power, without modern comforts, even without safety. But are we ready to stand firm in faith when everything else crumbles?
I’ll be honest—my walk with the Lord isn’t perfect. I struggle, I stumble, and I sometimes wonder where I fit in all of this. But even in the confusion, I know one thing for sure: God is real, and He hasn’t left us alone. I believe with my whole heart that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die so that we could have everlasting salvation. That’s not something I take lightly, and it’s not something I want to leave out of my plans.
Because when the world goes dark—and it might—we need more than just candles and canned food. We need hope. We need peace. We need a foundation that cannot be shaken, and that only comes through a relationship with God.
Preparedness without faith is like building a shelter without a roof. It might hold for a while, but when the real storms hit, you’re going to feel the rain.
So I want to encourage everyone reading this: don’t forget God in your preparedness system. Read His Word. Pray. Be honest about your struggles. Get right with Him. It doesn’t mean you have to be perfect—but it does mean you keep going, keep seeking, and keep trusting.

One of my favorite songs right now is by an artist named Struggle Jennings. He has had several popular songs, with “God We Need You Now” being the most popular and one of my absolute all-time favorites.
Who is Struggle Jennings:
Struggle Jennings is an American rapper and songwriter known for blending Southern rock, country, and hip-hop. Born William Harness in Nashville, Tennessee, he is the grandson of country music legend Waylon Jennings and the nephew of Shooter Jennings. Struggle rose to fame through his gritty, autobiographical lyrics that often reflect themes of hardship, addiction, redemption, and resilience. With strawberry picking season arriving across much of the country thought I would share this once again…….
My kids are technically adults now, but they still love freezer jam. Even though we are apart in miles (at the moment) I still feel the need to perform the same seasonal traditions as if they were still with me. I would not usually make this delicious treat until late summer in Maine, but here in South Carolina, the strawberries are ripe and ready. When I asked Mr. Rourke if he had ever had strawberry freezer jam he gave me a puzzled look and stated that he had never heard of such a thing! I was again amazed at yet another food he had not tried. To say he is a meat and potato guy is an understatement. As a matter of fact, I just had him try a Big Mac for the first time EVER last week! I would say that he has a 99% approval rating of the food I have him try. The one thing he is not fond of is sushi. I am afraid that is a losing battle, but as long as there are Steak and Sushi joints we both win!
Anyway, back to the freezer jam. This recipe is super easy and is found on the inside of the label of the container of RealFruit Instant Pectin by Ball. I believe you can also find a similar recipe on the inside of a box of Certo. The recipes differ by fruit being used. I have only ever used strawberries but maybe trying something different real soon. I made the jam outside of our camper for more space and because I like being outside. Thanks to our outdoor kitchen I was able to rinse the strawberries after hulling and slicing them.
Supplies: Three mixing bowls, funnel, strainer, potato masher, knife, mason jars, spoons, measuring spoons, and measuring cups.
Ingredients: Strawberries (about 6 quarts of strawberries made 11 8 ounce jars of jam), sugar, RealFruit Instant Pectin
What you see in the picture is double the amount plus some of the strawberries I needed. I was unsure and the extra berries were put to good use in a strawberry upside-down cake that was also delicious and enjoyed by my coworkers.
Cut, wash, strain, and mash strawberries. You will need 1 and 2/3 cup. Set aside.
In a clean bowl add 2/3 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons of pectin and mix together with a spoon.
Add the sugar/pectin mixture to the strawberries a little at a time, stir for 3 minutes until dissolved.
Put in jars using a funnel.
And there you have it! Strawberry Freezer Jam! Store in the freezer until ready to use then keep in the fridge. It is delicious on toast or on a PB & J. Rourke’s favorite way to have it is on the top of Breyer’s Extra Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream.
I know that this may not be a prepper item as it needs to be refrigerated to be stored but I like that it is a quick easy way to use up berries with very few ingredients.
There’s not much that will create an argument more than asking “What is the best firing stance and grip?” in a forum of AR shooters. While everyone has an opinion and many feel theirs is the only one that counts. I’ll give you my quick answer – “The one that you are comfortable with and allows rounds to be sent down range – accurately.”
Pretty simple.
Several years ago I heard of this method competition shooters were using to control recoil and shoot very accurately – called the “C-Clamp”. I tried and hated it. It felt so uncomfortable. I preferred to hold the magazine well, however, I just could not control recoil well and get multiple rounds on target quickly. This is a popular way of holding a gun while playing paintball. I had signed up for a defensive carbine and pistol course from Wolf-Fire Firearms Training and decided to try the C-Clamp again. I used it throughout the class and it really grew on me. This is now the primary method I use for shooting the AR and have done so for years.

I recently finished listening to The Strainon Audible, and I have to say—it was an amazing book. The story grabbed my attention right away and kept me hooked all the way through. This isn’t your typical vampire story. It’s a dark, creepy, and intense take on the legend, where vampires aren’t just old myths—they’re more like a dangerous virus that spreads fast and wipes out everything in its path.
What makes The Strainstand out is how real and terrifying it feels. The authors did a great job of mixing science and horror. The vampire outbreak is treated like a plague, and that gives the book a creepy, realistic edge. You can imagine something like this actually happening, which makes it even scarier. There are scenes that made me stop and think, “What would I do if this happened in real life?” and “What would I do to prepare for something like this?”
I also watched the first season of the TV series based on the book. It was really well done and followed the story closely. The show had a dark and gritty style that matched the book perfectly. I’m hoping to go back soon and watch the rest of the series—it deserves a full rewatch.
Another thing I loved about The Strainis that it fits perfectly into the “prepper fiction” genre. As the vampire virus spreads, society quickly starts to collapse. Power goes out, the government loses control, and regular people have to figure out how to survive. It reminded me a lot of other survival stories, where characters have to make hard choices and rely on their instincts and skills to stay alive. NOTE: This is a multi-part series, and much of the collapse happens in book two.
If you enjoy survival fiction, horror stories, or a fresh twist on classic monsters, I highly recommend The Strain. It’s a fast-paced, well-written, and chilling read that will keep you thinking long after it’s over. Whether you read it or listen to it like I did, you won’t regret diving into this thrilling story.
In a recent and deeply unsettling social media post, former FBI Director James Comey shared a photo of seashells arranged on a beach to spell out the cryptic message: “86 47.”While some tried to brush it off as a harmless riddle, the symbolism is hard to ignore — and for many Americans, it’s downright alarming.

What Was the DARPA LifeLog Program?
The LifeLog program was a project started in 2003 by DARPA, which stands for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. DARPA is a part of the U.S. Department of Defense that works on creating new technologies for the military. The goal of LifeLog was to create a giant digital diary that could record almost everything about a person’s life. This included things like phone calls, emails, text messages, places they visited (using GPS), what they bought, what they read, and even health data like their heart rate collected through wearable devices. The idea was to store all this information in a huge database to understand people’s habits, routines, and relationships. DARPA said this could help build smarter computers, like artificial intelligence (AI) that thinks more like a human. They also thought it could help the military by predicting people’s behavior.

One big difference is that LifeLog was a government program, and people might not have wanted to share their info with the military. Facebook, on the other hand, is a private company, and people choose to share their lives on it because it’s fun and social. But in both cases, the system works because people willingly give up their personal information.
Connections to Big Tech
Some people who worked at DARPA later ended up at Facebook, like Regina Dugan, who was a DARPA director and then worked on special projects at Facebook. Also, some of Facebook’s early investors, like Peter Thiel, have ties to companies that work with the government, which makes some people suspicious about whether Facebook had help from programs like LifeLog.

Even though there are similarities, there are also differences. LifeLog was a military project focused on building AI and helping the government, while Facebook started as a social network for college students to connect.
