Favorite Caliber – the .22LR

If I had to choose one caliber to shoot the rest of my life it would hands down be the .22LR. Of course, I’m glad no choice such as that is necessary. No idea how many rounds of .22LR I’ve shot bricks of the stuff have been gone through. So much fun!

Over the years I’ve drooled over numerous .22LR rifles and pistols. One I desperately wanted was the Calico M-100. This was a really interesting gun as it had a 100-rd helical fed magazine. I never had an opportunity to shoot one. They can be seen for sale online periodically but pricing is ridiculous.

There were several others I dreamt about as a teenager – including the Feather AT-22. I actually saw one on MeWe a couple months ago but we couldn’t agree on the price. Love that barrel shroud!

One of my favorite .22’s that I have owned(several actually) is the AR-7 Survival Rifle. I love the thing and Henry’s latest version is fantastic. I owned an old Charter Arms version back in the 80’s. I cannot find a picture, but, a company made a kit to dress it up to become the “Night Stalker.” I absolutely loved that gun.

Maybe someday I can find all the pieces and put it back together again.

Another very interesting gun from the 80’s is the Squire Bingham M16R. This firearm was designed in the Philippines back when it was difficult to obtain real AR/M16’s.  Read about the history of the gun HERE. Oh, and mine sits at my brothers ready to battle zombified squirrels at a moment’s notice.

Oh, the memories…..
