From the Desk of John Rourke – December 29th, 2017

OK folks, this weekend work on your New Years Resolutions, goals and objective, or whatever you call them. Those willing to share can do so next week. I’m going to work on mine over the weekend and Monday or Tuesday will post them up.

Over the last week, I haven’t been watching the news at all. I saw about the passage of the tax bill but beyond that nothing. It was enjoyable but not sustainable. I need to know what is going on not only in my community, region but around the world.

The cold going across the country is amazing. Massive snowfalls in areas combined with freezing temps are not just a pain but dangerous. I’ve heard from one friend that they are having to jump start cars frequently and vehicles with weaker batteries are having to have batteries replaced altogether. Imagine getting stuck out on a country road in sub-freezing temps and no heat. Best be prepared.

The wife got an Insta Pot cooker for Christmas. These are all the rage and so far very good cooking.

So I mentioned I was building that AR for a buddy and I was going to put a 1X-4X scope on it. Changed things up a little and mounted a Bushnell TRS-25 on it and will recommend to the new owner to place a 3X flip out of the way magnifier behind it if magnification is required. bushnell makes one to co-witness with the TRS-25. I know a lot of people scoff at anything other than an EOTech, ACOG, or AimPoint. I’ve had great performance out of the TRS-25 and I know others with first-hand experience who have as well. Reviewing reviews on Amazon just solidifies my decision.
