It’s an inevitable question asked by children everywhere. There is no easy answer. I remember in 10th grade having a local minister visit my home and attempt to answer. The shooting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida just begs the question as to why bad things happen.
A simple answer could be if bad things didn’t happen then there would be no comparison – no reference – which to understand what is good. In my mind the answer is quite simple – evil. There is evil in this world. While we have wonderful, generous, and compassionate people all over this country and in this world we also have the opposite.
Here’s another couple questions that get asked:
What do we do about these bad things that happen?
How can we prevent them from happening?
Tough questions and the answers are not easy. Living in a free society there are consequences to this freedom. There is no way around it. What I do know is you cannot pass a law to prevent evil from carrying out evil. While laws, ordinances, and policies may guide behavior in the end evil will be evil.
Case in Point: Chicago.
While Chicago has some of the strictist gun control laws in the United States this city also has some of the highest murder and shooting rates.
It’s people. It’s culture.

Or it could be that the morals of the country have fallen to such lows after being assaulted by such scum bags as Slick Willie and the America hating, communist, dog eating, bath housing, community agitating, choom ganging, White House usurping, Muslim bastage, Barry Soetoro infesting our highest office for so long? The open borders have caused massive damage as well. Many of the illegal alien maggots would take a life for the price of a Big Mac. They are wholly incompatible with our culture and way of life as is Islam and Christianity worlds apart.
Good points Capt. The perspective I was trying to point out and maybe I didn’t do a good job is that in a free society there is a price to pay for freedom. The gun control crowd will point out the people killed accidentally every year thus firearms should be banned. I would point out that statistically bad things will happen with guns when people have the freedom to own them. We have the freedom to eat whatever we want thus some people are morbidly obese while others are healthy. We have the freedom to drive vehicle and unfortunate accidents happen. All those things you pointed out are right on the money – evil exists.
On the first question. (what I told my kids or near so)
Sometimes bad things are from bad decisions, so think first. Sometimes there are bad people and we need good people to help with them. God takes cares of his children, so it’s ok for them just tough on us that have to stay. We’ll see them again if we do the right things.

GG58, true, but I believe that the It’s not your fault but somebody else’s for doing something bad mentality has something to do with the decay of morals in this country.
